Department of Zoology

The Department organizes zoological excursion and study tours at different places for studying living animals, their behavior and visited different national institutions.Field work experiences at sea shore and Institutes. Training and work experience in pathology, Histo Pathology (Organ Biology) and Biotechnology.Training in Applied Zoology, & Dairy Industry and Occupational Physiology.All faculty members have excellent academic credentials with teaching and research experience. The faculty is always available to guide and council the students and remain friendly and accessible.Special coaching for different entrance examinations after graduation.Departmental Library is also available with reference books and Journals The Department of Zoology has three well equipped laboratories with all Research facilities for Project work of Students and Teachers.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The Department aims to provide a broad multidisciplinary course in Zoology.
To train students in a wide range of science-based skills that provide the learning base for future careers in disciplines such as health sciences, agriculture, environmental management, the emerging biotechnologies, publishing, teaching, research and management.
To achieve excellence in teaching, research and extension education in the field of Zoology
To offer a modular course of lectures and associated seminars, research projects and practical classes, supported by supervisions where appropriate.
To promote training in practical and conceptual skills in sub-disciplines ranging from molecular cell biology, through physiology and Endocrinology, to the study of populations in both an ecological and evolutionary framework.
To provide constructive feedback on their progress, individual students will be assessed throughout the year in their project work, participation in seminars and written work for supervisions.
To provide professional training in effective verbal and written communication skills.
To promote students for self employment through aquaculture, sericulture, apiculture, bio-fertilizer and Vermi-culture.
To produce globally competitive graduates and post graduates in Zoology

The department of Zoology has a good reputation and good academic performance in the region. Our staff takes all possible efforts for the over all development of students.
The department has well furnished staff room and two laboratories we have departmental library in addition to central library.
The department has well established museum.
The department museum has rare and prominent animal collection.
The Zoology department is a spacious department with built up area of 300.9 sq.ft.
The Department organizes educational tour every year.
Department organizes many academic events like seminar & conferences.
Department had Successfully organized one day syllabus workshop
To Provide Practical Application, department had organized a three day field zoology workshop for the degree students of our district.
The different facilities available in the department are Autoclave, Oven, calorimeter, Electronic balance, models, charts, specimens, permanent slides, microscopes, Research microscopes, microtome.
The Department is well equipped with the advanced technical aids like SMARTBOARD. projector, one Laptop, one Computer with internet facility
