We have Polyhouse in which different rare and more than 125 horticultural plants are conserved. To conserve the rare plants is one of important objective of botany with this view, we have planted and conserved very rare and endemic plants like, Baringtonia acutangula,Gart. Adansonia digitata,L. Bixa orellana,L. Couroupita guianensis,Aubl. Cinnamomum camphora, L. Kijelia pinata,DC,. Dillenia indica,L Tylophora indica, L. Putranjiva roxburghii, Baringtonia speceosa in our campus.Faculty members from my department give additional guidance to the students, due to which from last three years our students have obtained ranks in University merit list.Our department runs plant protection as an interdisciplinary subject.The faculty members motivate the students to participate in different extra curricular activities due to which our students obtained prizes in different events.Faculty members from my department have attended 50 workshops/seminars. We use models, specimens, charts, OHP and computer C.D. as a teaching aids. To know natural habit and habitats of plants. Our department arranges study tours for all students at different places.

Botany Association

Objective:

  • It is club is an active academic club that provide students with opportunities to expand their education outside the classroom
  • Each semester members of this association participate in green house plant prapogation and botany related projects.
  • It is group of dedicated students from multiple background and disciplines that share common interest in botany, such as trip ,laboratory visit ,botanical excursion,
  • Goal is to share wonders of plant life.
  • The purpose is to increase the academic and practical knowledge of participant with regards to all forms of botanical life.
  • To provide forum for discussion and care for all manners of plants and horticulture needs.
  • Maintenance and enrichment of seed bank and herbarium.
  • To take part in activities which are related to the development of the subject.

The practices:

  • Discussions about organic farming
  • Participation in district internship programme.
  • The members visited villages to conduct a survey of the agricultural practices .in the process they visited the fields and interacted with the farmers.
  • Participation in NSS programme and activity.
  • Cleanliness drive.
  • Different workshop.
  • Presented research project in Avishkar.
  • Participated and presented posters in national and state level seminars and workshops.

Evidence success:

  • Association is an enthusiastic effort by the students and events are organized routinely.
  • Feedback from students is positively encouraging .
  • Association gained the praise during the workshop by invited guest and staff.
